DaRoach 1-Year Anniversary!!

So, yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of one of the games I made last year : DaRoach! DaRoach was a small maze arcade game about a Roach guy stealing gems, and the game was made in about a month and was (up to this point) the most frustrating experience I had making something in RPG maker. But obviously I was using the engine to make a game it was just not built for. So that's okay lol.

For each of my games, I usually have something nice to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the game. However, I don't really have anything for DaRoach. Things have been incredibly busy for me lately, I'm currently working through commissions and have a lot of personal work to do and a lot of meetups happening constantly, so it's hard to make the time to put together a big new update for the game during all that.

I will, however, be doing an update for the game. Even if it doesn't happen in 2023, I have a policy that I will update EVERY game I upload to Itchio at some point, at least once. Even tech demos if I can think of anything to add to them lol. And DaRoach is certainly no exception, I have a lot of ideas for how to polish the game up, and I hope I can put it together for everyone to see soon. I will keep you all updated on any progress I make on it!! Thank you all for your support and love for the amazing DaRoach!

As for any updates I have to share on the game RIGHT now? Well, for starters, I'm removing the request for $1 when downloading the game. At the time it was the biggest, fullest thing I had put together, so I wanted to request some cash from anyone who played it. However, in retrospect, I don't think it's worth that in the clunky state it's in. The payment was optional anyway, so now you're free to just get it for free guilt free. Hopefully after I update it, it'll be good enough to ask for money for it again!

However that's not to say I don't think DaRoach is good. It's clearly not an amazing game by any means. But I'm actually still incredibly proud of it a year later. It's my first game to have some sort of a narrative (small as it might be), it is a full game technically, it has music and voice acting. It really feels like there's something here. And I hope whenever I make an update I can make it even better and worth your time even more!

Also, I made a shiny new ref sheet for DaRoach, isn't that nice?

Well, that's basically all I have for now. Thank you all for your patience and continued support, look forward to news about more silly little games and DaRoach updates!!
