Hello again! Lately I've been thinking about Mario again for no particular reason at all. And I suddenly just kinda had an itch to brainstorm ideas for Mario fangames again. And it led me to trying my hand at testing making a Mario fangame in RPG Maker, since that's what I make everything in. People seemed to like what I posted so I figured I'd make it playable since I'm REALLY determined to not work on it any more than this lol.

Controls are incredibly simple. Arrow Keys / D-pad to move. Z / A should be jump!

If you want to reach the room with the other characters, touch the flower in the bottom left of the screen! Touch it again to return to the first room!!

There's not much to do, you can't even fight the goomba! But again this is just a proof of concept. You can hit blocks. There's 2 ? blocks, 2 breakable brick blocks (one with and without a coin), and 1 multi-coin block (which took WAY longer than it should have to make)

You can also jump anywhere! The fact I got jumping to work with just common events was very cool and charming to me and I'm very pleased with it. However, since you can jump ANYWHERE, it means you can jump out of bounds. If you get stuck, just jump again and you should be able to get yourself out!

I'm absolutely not gonna make a Mario RPG in RPG Maker. This would DESTROY all progress on Once Upon An Adventure, and overall I'd rather just focus on my own OCs rather than devote so much time to a fan project. But idk. It was in my brain and I thought it'd be cute to see

The thing I'm most impressed with is that the actual jumping works. Idk if you can tell in the video but you can't walk up those higher levels, you actually have to use the jump button which I made through common events and such. It's all very sloppily put together though like you can jump anywhere which means you can jump out of bounds which obviously I would have to fix for a final version. But I'm just so happy it worked at all. Who knows maybe OUAA will be so popular Nintendo will ask me to make a Mario RPG, Cadence of Hyrule situation.

Please don't ask how long it took to put this one screen together lmao

I love what you're doing here, especially love the graphic style you're putting together! I think the jump is still a little janky... and enemies need to react and such, but it sounds like this is a proof of concept. Looking forward to more. :)
